Diversity in Unity

Riding with a good speed in a burning afternoon…approached a traffic signal…saw people rushing to get over before it turned red…following the flow…accelerated the bike to full throttle…but all went in drain…saw the light turned orange and then red…riders in front hurried for limited shade under road side trees…! Suddenly noticing a huge shadow in middle of the road…good 20 meters before the signal…I applied brakes with all muscle and bike stopped with a screech…!!! I felt the growling sound and the burning sensation of my bike…rather its feelings for me…which I guess were not good at that time…but by what means I could have made him understand that it was all for the bloody shade…and that he wud also enjoy good 70 odd seconds hiding from the scorching sun beams…which had only one intention…to turn every human being….tan…!!

Finally I looked up to see the source of this peaceful shade…saw a huge banner which looked like a flag of a social communal group….it was really big…big enough to give shade to 10 fellow riders…who spotted the same and joined in….relaxing the coolness of shadow… no body bothered to look at it and thankfully nobody tried to take the credit either…it would have been really funny to hear…”get out form here….it belong to people from our community only..!!!”

I looked around only to notice endless small banners, flags, posters everywhere…hanging from trees, buildings…rather from every possible structure which could support their string …though they too offered shade but in contrast were very small to attract anyone’s attention to get underneath…

Recalling the night we won the world cup…everyone on streets…celebrating the win…unanimously…wondered these flags representing different groups of society would have felt being “left out”…but in short span they again regained their supremacy and place in our “diversified society” as we call it. I wondered…“unity in diversity or diversity in unity”
